Grievance Procedure

- Employees having a grievance shall take the matter up with their immediate supervisor along with their Union delegate, within a reasonable time of when a problem occurs. This is Step 1 of the grievance procedure.
- If the grievance is not settled in Step 1 it may be presented within five days after the answer in Step 1 to an Employee’s department head at Step 2 of the grievance procedure. The grievance should be in writing and presented by the Union delegate and the grievant.
- If the grievance is not settled in Step 2 it may, within five days after the answer in Step 2 be presented in writing to the Human Resource Director by the Union’s representative in Step 3 of the grievance procedure. A grievance meeting will be scheduled within fifteen or twenty five days depending on the nature of the grievance. The Employer will give its written decision within five days after the grievance meeting but no later than ten days following the meeting.
- For class action grievances, suspensions and discharges, the grievance will be initiated at Step 3 of the grievance procedure.
