iSpeak: Rising Gasoline Prices

With gas prices up to $4 a gallon and predictions of $5 a gallon before the end of the year, many drivers will be spending $6,000 a year on gas. This also means a rise in prices for food and other goods that are transported. With summer coming up, has this had an impact on your vacation plans? How about on the way you live in general?

This is causing me to eat less, buy less and actually starve. I have to cut down on my groceries and things that I normally buy for the kids, I just buy basics to help offset the gas and the food prices. We are going to starve, I know that. We need more income to offset this cost of living. Thank God its summer now. When winter comes, we will freeze in the house. We cannot afford to heat it and we will starve. We cannot afford to buy food and we cannot go anywhere. We can't drive.

I am beginning to think that the government must intervene to regulate the economy for workers to remain productive. I am seeing my check weaken and weaken every day as the cost of living degenerates. Everything is costing more and more; except my wages are barely rising 3% a year. Something must be done to keep the scheme alive, and the undefined American dream an illusion worth searching for.

My vacation plans have definitely been impacted. I will probably remain right here in the city or fly to one of the neighboring states for a long weekend.

The union should organize a rally against this injustice. The people who make up 1199 are mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, etc. Sean Bell could be any one of us and could've been related to any one of us. In order to make sure that an injustice like this does not happen again, we need to show our support for one another and for humanity and call for a change and for justice. 1199 has enough power and voices to bring about change!

Increases in price of goods and services and increases in air fares mean less vacation, and consequently more stressed people on the street and at work.
